Kindness, feedback is it kind or not?

Yesterday someone said to me that I’d better step up, I found it quite offensive. I was doing the best I could. However, it has caused me to reflect and improve what I do. I do not like the person but the feedback has made me better at what I do. I will thank him for that but avoid him in the future.
